Annie Wetter, PC CAN President

Meet Annie! A founding member of Portage County Can, Annie is the current PC Can President.  Annie is also a professor of nutrition at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. One of her favorite outdoor activities is biking, along with gardening and occasionally completing ultra-marathons. Biking to work is just one way she strives to help others see that our community offers many resources that support a healthy lifestyle. Her lifelong ambition is to positively impact people’s health and well-being.

Favorite Fruit: Apples

Suzanne Oehlke, Executive Director

Meet Suzanne! Suzanne is the Executive Director of PC Can. She is also a registered dietitian nutritionist and certified breastfeeding educator. Suzanne’s favorite part of being active in Portage County is running or walking on the Green Circle trail. “When it comes to exercising, Suzanne says, “It clears a space in my mind where real solutions to my everyday issues and problems can surface.  I’m not always excited for the start, but the end is exhilarating.” Suzanne also loves golf, tennis, gardening, skiing, and hiking.

Favorite Food: Anything with spinach! “It’s rich in many vitamins and minerals and offers a vast number of health benefits. I also think it’s delicious!”

Deanna Deising, Financial Director

Meet Deanna! Deanna is behind the scenes working and assisting with big projects and financial management. Born in Charleston, SC, Deanna moved to Oshkosh and graduated from UW-Stevens Point with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science. Currently, she is the program manager for the School of Health Promotion and Human Development at UWSP. Deanna loves the Green Circle Trail. “You can find me either running, biking or walking my dog 4 to 6 days of the week on the Green Circle Trail,” Deanna said. In her spare time, she likes working on anything creative, cooking healthy meals and being around friends and family.

Food obsession: Local veggies.“I love almost all vegetables and enjoy their seasonality.”

Erin Schneider, Communications Director

Meet Erin! Erin is the new Communications Director for PC CAN. Erin is originally from Marshfield Wisconsin and currently a junior at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, majoring in Health Promotion and Wellness with a minor in Psychology. She spends her time as a Conference Coordinator for the National Wellness Institute-Student Chapter and works part-time as a home healthcare provider. Erin’s passions include helping others and working hard to make this community a better place. Welcome, Erin to the team!

Drew Dow, Co-Webmaster

Meet Drew! A 2017 UWSP Grad and former PC CAN intern, Drew is the Co-Webmaster for PC CAN. Drew works for Delta Dental as a Website Developer and uses those skills to help PC CAN manage our website. In his free time, Drew enjoys running, hiking, fishing, coding (of course), and disc golfing around the state.

 Favorite Fruit: Oranges

Sierra Kelley, Digital Marketing Manager

Meet Sierra! Sierra is the digital and design guru at PC CAN. She is passionate about the intersection of design and personality. When not behind her smartphone or laptop, you can find Sierra rollerblading, hiking or longboarding. A 2017 UWSP graduate, Sierra works as the Promotions and Marketing Coordinator for UWSP Dining Services.

Fav veg? – broccoli and potatoes (but not together).

Derek Bell, Central Wisconsin Worksite Wellness Chair

Meet Derek! Derek is the chairperson of the PC Can work-group, the Central Wisconsin Worksite Wellness Network (CWWWN). As a Health Promotion and Wellness Consultant at Ministry Medical Group, Derek is the PC Can expert in worksite wellness programs. “Building a healthy culture doesn’t happen by accident,” said Derek, “It is planned nurtured and grown. I believe we can make a better future, by changing our culture today.”

Favorite vegetable: raw okra, freshly picked

Laura Zelenak, PC CAN Turkey Trot Chair

Meet Laura! Laura is the PC Can Turkey Trot Chairperson. With a masters in Nutrition from UWSP, Laura is a health educator for Marshfield Clinic where she works to promote and advance healthy lifestyle initiatives. Laura’s favorite thing about Portage County is the Wisconsin River and enjoys spending her outdoor time gardening, kayaking, walking, hiking, biking, and camping. During the winter months, you will find Laura at the gym, in a yoga class and occasionally skiing or snowshoeing. On her approach to wellness and nutrition, Laura says, “Take care of yourself, you’re worth it!”

Kelly Hammond, Fruit & Veggie Works Chair

Meet Kelly! Kelly is the Fruit and Veggie Network Chair, a whole network dedicated to our community eating more fruits and vegetables! Her passion for community wellness runs deep, and you can often find her on the Stevens Point trails, at the farmers’ markets or in the garden. As the Portage and Wood County Extension FoodWIse Coordinator, Kelly works in the community promoting healthy eating on a budget. On her approach to wellness and nutrition, Kelly says, “I believe that health and wellness should be accessible by everyone; the journey of wellness is one of progress, and not perfection.”

Best veggie out there? Avocados in everything: salads, wraps and especially in smoothies. Yum!
