Meet the Team!

Annie Wetter, PC CAN President

Meet Annie! A founding member of Portage County Can, Annie is the current PC Can President.  Annie is also a professor of nutrition at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. One of her favorite outdoor activities is biking, along with gardening and occasionally completing ultra-marathons. Biking to work is just one way she strives to help others see that our community offers many resources that support a healthy lifestyle. Her lifelong ambition is to positively impact people’s health and well-being.

Favorite Fruit: Apples


Kelly Hammond, Communication Director

Meet Kelly! One of the newest members of the team, Kelly joined PC Can in 2016 as a graduate assistant through the Sustainable and Resilient Food Systems Master's program at UWSP. She also works as a nutrition educator for the UW-Extension Program, FoodWIse in Waupaca County. Kelly loves to spend her time walking or cycling the trails in Stevens Point, backpacking and traveling. Her biggest fitness accomplishment was a summer spent cycling across Europe with her now-husband on a self-supported bike tour that spanned 9 countries and 3,000 miles. On her approach to wellness and nutrition, Kelly says, "I believe the health and wellness should be accessible by everyone-- as the journey of wellness is one of progress, and not perfection."

Best veggie out there? Avocados in everything: salads, wraps and especially in smoothies. Yum!

Suzanne Oehlke, Executive Director

Meet Suzanne! Suzanne is the Executive Director of PC Can. She is also a registered dietitian nutritionist and certified breastfeeding educator. Suzanne’s favorite part of being active in Portage County is running or walking on the Green Circle trail. “When it comes to exercising, Suzanne says, “It clears a space in my mind where real solutions to my everyday issues and problems can surface.  I’m not always excited for the start, but the end is exhilarating.” Suzanne also loves golf, tennis, gardening, skiing, and hiking.

Favorite Food: Anything with spinach! “It’s rich in many vitamins and minerals and offers a vast number of health benefits. I also think it’s delicious!”

Cara Adams, Financial Director

Meet Cara! Combining her talents and passions, Cara is the PC Can treasurer and graphic design expert. Cara is the mother of two young sons, who inspired her to become passionate about eating healthy and exercising. Having recently moved to Stevens Point, Cara fell in love with the running trails and recently completed her first half marathon-- she is currently training for a full marathon. “Crossing that finish line was one of the proudest moments of my life,” Cara said. Besides running, she loves cross-stitching, painting, and crocheting.

What’s cooking? “Currently, my favorite vegetable is any root veggie I can roast!”

Deanna Deising, Operations Director

Meet Deanna! Events chairperson and leader of the Activity Workgroup, Deanna is behind the scenes for the big projects. Born in Charleston, SC, Deanna moved to Oshkosh and graduated from UW-Stevens Point with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science. Currently, she is the program manager for the School of Health Promotion and Human Development at UWSP. Deanna loves the Green Circle Trail. “You can find me either running, biking or walking my dog 4 to 6 days of the week on the Green Circle Trail,” Deanna said. In her spare time, Deanna likes working on anything creative, cooking healthy meals and being around friends and family.

Food obsession: Local veggies.  “I love almost all vegetables and enjoy their seasonality.”

Laura Zelenak, PC CAN Turkey Trot Chairperson

Meet Laura! Laura is the PC Can Turkey Trot Chairperson. With a masters in Nutrition from UWSP, Laura is a health educator for Marshfield Clinic where she works to promote and advance healthy lifestyle initiatives. Laura’s favorite thing about Portage County is the Wisconsin River and enjoys spending her outdoor time gardening, kayaking, walking, hiking, biking, and camping. During the winter months, you will find Laura at the gym, in a yoga class and occasionally skiing or snowshoeing. On her approach to wellness and nutrition, Laura says, “Take care of yourself, you’re worth it!”

Best one-pot dish? Ask Laura for her lentil bake recipe! Yum!

Ashley Chrisinger, Fruit and Veggie Works Chair

Meet Ashley! Ashley is the chairperson for the Fruit and Vegetable WORKS workgroup with PC Can. Ashley is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, associate lecturer at UWSP and owner of Homegrown Nutrition LLC. You can find Ashley outside all year long with her husband and two young boys; building forts, enjoying long runs and coed softball. Her favorite part of Portage County is the energy of the community, especially the downtown Stevens Point area. On her love of beets, Ashley said, “What I especially love about beets is that you get two very different vegetable experiences: the sweet earthy flavor of the beet root, and the bitter greens on top that pair so well with bacon and gorgonzola! AND you can puree the beetroot and add it to baked goods! endless possibilities!

Derek Bell, Central Wisconsin Worksite Wellness Chair

Meet Derek! Derek is the chairperson of the PC Can work-group, the Central Wisconsin Worksite Wellness Network (CWWWN). As a Health Promotion and Wellness Consultant at Ministry Medical Group, Derek is the PC Can expert in worksite wellness programs. Building a healthy culture doesn’t happen by accident,” said Derek, “It is planned nurtured and grown. I believe we can make a better future, by changing our culture today.”

Favorite vegetable: raw okra, freshly picked 

Brandi Haslitt, Co-Webmaster

Meet Brandi! With degrees in both communication and web/digital media development-- Brandi is a pro at online storytelling and managing user experience. When not on her computer, Brandi enjoys cooking and is an aspiring home gardener. Her favorite thing about Portage County is the Green Circle Trail, “I love that so many green places are connected by this trail. It's a different and wonderful way to experience the city.”

Drew Dow, Co-Webmaster

Meet Drew! A 2017 UWSP Grad and former PC CAN intern, Drew is the Co-Webmaster for PC CAN. Drew works for Delta Dental as a Website Developer and uses those skills to help PC CAN manage our website. In his free time, Drew enjoys running, hiking, fishing, coding (of course), and disc golfing around the state.

 Favorite Fruit: Oranges

Sierra Kelley, Digital Marketing Manager

Meet Sierra! Sierra is the digital and design guru at PC CAN. She is passionate about the intersection of design and personality. When not behind her smartphone or laptop, you can find Sierra rollerblading, hiking or longboarding. A 2017 UWSP graduate, Sierra works as the Promotions and Marketing Coordinator for UWSP Dining Services.

Fav veg? - broccoli and potatoes (but not together).

Rodel Magtanong, Digital Marketing Coordinator

A senior at UWSP, Rodel is studying health promotion wellness.
While his dream job is to be a personal trainer for the Green Bay Packers, Rodel currently focuses on promoting health and wellness to the Stevens Point Community. Alongside his internship with PC CAN, Rodel is the President of his Fraternity, the VP of the National Wellness Institute Student Chapter and an ambassador for the College of Health Promotion and Human Development.

Secret talent? Rodel can hurdle over his own leg back and forth like a jump rope (seriously, ask him!)

Devin Parker, Website Coordinator

A Senior at UWSP, Devin is a nerd who likes the outdoors. His major is Computer Information Systems with a minor in web digital media development. He enjoys exploring the different parks in Portage County and exploring new technology. After graduation, he plans to carry out his interests and goals in web and graphic design.
