Fruit & Veggie WORKS
What’s the number one thing that you can do to improve your health? Simple: eat more fruits and vegetables. The Fruit and Veggie WORKS coalition partners with all sorts of community organizations to promote fruits and vegetables throughout Portage County. Our programs include everything from providing healthy snacks in the classroom, facilitating cooking skills workshops and promoting area farmers’ markets.
What is Fruit & Veggie WORKS?
The first program that lead to the formation of FV works in was the Fruit and Vegetable Prescription (FVRx) program: a collaboration with PCCan, UWSP, Aspirus Hospital, Farmshed and the Stevens Point farmers market. This program was piloted in 2015 and has since expanded its reach to collaborate with Ascension St. Michael's Hospital in Stevens Point, and the Wausau and Rapids farmers’ markets.
